The Complete Dentist

I have had the privilege of practicing dentistry for 41 years as of 2025. During that time I have had the good fortune to study with some great mentors/clinicians, such as Dr. Michael Schuster, Dr. Peter Dawson, Dr. John Kanca, Dr. Bill Strupp, and several others. Dr.'s Schuster and Dawson worked with Dr. LD Pankey for many years, and through them I learned about the "Pankey philosophy of comprehensive dentistry". Dr. John Kanca is the foremost authority on bonding science in the world, in my opinion....and I attempt to share a small bit of that with you in this book.
In the past 5 years I have had occasion to meet and interview several new graduates looking for practice opportunities. What they have told me about their level of preparation to practice in the real world is alarming. Many tell me they have worked principally with manikins instead of real people in the process of meeting their requirements for graduation....and several have told me they only did approximately ten crowns their D4 year and that was enough for graduation.
All of the above was the impetus that inspired me to write this book. I share several articles written by Dr. Michael Schuster (with his permission) in this book as well. It is my hope that what you learn after reading this book will help you have a successful career in dentistry, by teaching you how to become "health-focused" instead of becoming a "tooth mechanic".
