Durham City rises dramatically from a tight loop of the River Wear, its Norman cathedral and castle crowning a peninsula that has changed remarkably little in shape since the 11th century. For photographer Andrew Pounder, the city holds a deeply personal resonance: growing up just down the road in Darlington, he has visited Durham countless times over the years, and it was even the setting for a first date with his now-wife.
