We say, "Don't be a fool" to someone who is about to make a bad decision. Gifts for Today is an inductive Bible study of the gifts of theSpirit, with a special emphasis on the controversial or special gifts that God has given to the church. Dones Vigentes es un estudio bíblico inductivo sobre el tema de los dones del Espíritu, especialmente los que son controversias. De los 19 dones mencionados en el NT, cuatro o cinco tuvieron funciones específicas en la fundación de la iglesia, mientras los demás 15 dones se manifiestan en todas las iglesias evangélicas. Este libro es un intento de explicar las razones bíblicas para enfocar en los quince dones universales que resulta en la edificación de las iglesias, en vez de los dones sensacionales que eran señales de autenticación.

El autor tiene 30 años de ministerios en Latinoamérica donde él ha visto muchos manifestaciones de milagros y sanidades, y, a la vez, muchas manifestaciones fingidas en las iglesias y entre las tribus de Amazonas. Sin embargo, el libro no intenta a analizar los acontecimientos de experiencias diversas. El enfoque del libro es la evidencia bíblica sobre los dones de controversias.

El autor no intenta discutir con autores de diferentes opiniones, más bien, solamente extraer el sentido del texto bíblico. El motivo del libro es aclarar una posición con el fin de entender por que algunas iglesias son distintas. El autor no cree que todas los  hermanos tienen que creer igualmente cada doctrina no esencial para la salvación.

Can you imagine the challenge and willingness of the twelve Apostles and the first Jewish Christians to be giving responsability of making disciple-making churches throughout the world? The Book of Acts describes the difficult cultural hurdles these early Christians had to overcome, and what it cost them to take Christ seriously.  Jesus counted on them to give their lives for their nation and the Gentiles whom they dispised.  

The transitional nature of the development of the early church from a very Jewish Christian church, which would be rejected by the Jewish nation as a whole, to an international church, that was not Jewish, but was to become Christ-like in nature. The Gentiles had different cultural barriers to overcome, which would lead both Jews and Gentiles needing to accept a radically different identity as Christ-followers. 

As the story begins, Peter's leadership become evident in the face of mounting persecution from Jewish leaders who see these Christ-followers as a threat to their traditions. The only solution they can see is to eradicate this new sect as heredical. Many are imprisoned, beaten, stoned to death and forced to flee their homeland into uncomfortable territories.

The people Jesus commanded his followers to evangelized and incorporate into the same church were naturally dispised by every early Jewish Christian: the Samaritans, Romans and all Gentiles. How could these groups ever become united or experience a oneness that Christ demanded?  This is the story of Acts. If the Gentiles did not have to become Jewish proselytes to become Christians, what would the church look like? 

Once the church was established on biblical grounds it was ready to launch out into the dark, pagan world of the Gentiles to share the "good news" of Christ's death-payment for the sins of every individual on earth who would accept Christ as their only God and Savior. Volume 2 details the incredible expansion of the Church. 

How did the Jewish Christian church transition into a Gentile dominated Christian church while maintaining essential unity and common doctrines? This is the amazing story of the ministry of the Apostle Paul and his team of discipling church planters in Acts 13-28.  The story begins in Antioch of Syria, 350 miles north of Jerusalem and will extend to Illyricum and Rome. 

The spreading of these early Christians was initially motivated by persecution, but Paul will establish a higher motivation for expanding the knowledge of Christ into a dark, pagan world. Paul's transformation from a persecutor of Christian Jews to an evangelist and apostle of Jesus Christ.

His strategy of bold evangelism and consistent disciple-making, then organized these disciples into churches that were challenged to reproduce under their new leaders. They met in homes, rather than synagogues with diverse ethnic peoples in every major city of the empire.

The three different groups within the synagogues offered an opportunity to evangelize those who were learning of the greatness of God's wisdom in the O.T. and the coming Messiah. When Paul announced the Jewish rejection of their Messiah, yet the fulfillment of all the O.T. prophecies, and resurrection, they believed it and followed Christ. Within a few years churches were established throughout the empire. This book tells us how it all happened.

This is a book of vision, passion, commitment and courage. From the day Paul met Jesus on the road to Damascus, he was never the same -- and never stopped telling his story of having met and seen the risen Savior.
