Every Day & Every Way
by Chris Wilkins
As I grow older, which I welcome and enjoy, I find that what is important is changing, and the lens of age, instead of blurring my vision, has sharpened it; I see clearer than when I was a younger man. As youngsters, our old souls residing in newly minted flesh, we are blinded by the erroneous outlook that the passage of time has no consequence for us, and then as the trappings of youthful immortality are stripped away over the years, what is important, really important, finally comes into view in all of its magnificence, beauty and simplicity.
A Reason To Live explores twenty good reasons to live that I find inspiring and motivating, and these propel me to get up and sally forth into the light of day to see what new opportunities are on the horizon. I have included some fun and not so fun (because some experiences are more painful than others - instructional nonetheless) anecdotes which inexorably lead me to a greater understanding about what matters and what does not. I call these Life Truths.
I invite you to come along and experience how these life events continue to help me live a loving, nurturing and fulfilling life. In many ways, these life experiences are universal, and I think it is very likely that you too will find inspiration, motivation, beauty and a new point of view through which you can observe the world as well as the circumstances in your own life. As for me, through the thorny hardships and the just as abundant times of milk and honey, I wouldn't change a thing. All of these experiences were necessary for me to become the human being and man that I am today.
Creative but basic. Simple yet complicated. Colorfully happy in a world of black and white. This is my dichotomy and I am sticking to it.
Chris Wilkins is an author, photographer and adventurer. He has traveled much, lived unwisely but happily, and loved without boundaries. Mostly, Chris is a doting husband, father, brother, son and now, an excited and loving Papa to six grandchildren. These discoveries are found in the everyday people, places and things that make up our daily existence. In other words, the people, places and things that matter. The stuff of life.
