“The radio went silent and suddenly Richard felt very much alone and for the first time that summer, a little afraid. There had been so much Richard had wanted to say. He wanted support, encouragement, help. Here he was responsible for this boat full of sea-sick kids, with mother nature throwing everything at them, with Jeff down and no one to help. ‘I’m not cut out for this stuff,’ he thought to himself. ‘Knock-downs, tidal waves, - these things don’t happen to me. I can’t cope!’
And at that dramatic point in Richard’s life, as if in sympathy with his feelings, the heavens opened. Like the scene from an old tragic play, it began to pour. Richard hung up the receiver, gathering his thoughts, when from right above him came a huge explosion...”

As a young English Teacher fresh out of college, Richard Williams is struggling in his chosen profession. Seeking adventure and escape he heads for the Caribbean as a leader on a teen sailing camp. From one misadventure to the next, the story follows Williams as he tries to navigate the world of sailing, teenagers, and his own emotions.

Set amongst the vivid landscape of the Virgin Islands, Camp Caribbean is a humorous adventure based on the true story of one man's attempt to find meaning in life.
