A children's book of Creation, Scripture, Song, and the Gospel
by
The creation account forms a foundation for faith. In Genesis, we are invited to behold God as Creator. He speaks light
into darkness, shapes the skies and seas, fills the land with plants and trees, places lights in the heavens, fills the waters
and the skies with life, creates animals, and makes Adam and Eve in His image.
This book is really three books in one: a children's storybook, a visual song accompaniment, and a Scripture-guided walk
through creation that turns toward the good news of Jesus Christ.
Read it slowly. Let children notice the pictures. Ask what they see. Sing the lyrics. Read the Scripture. Then point them to
the greatest truth of all: the God who made the whole world also made a way for us to know Him personally through
Jesus.
Sincerely,
Craig Marvin Johnson
"In the Beginning, God" is a visual journey through the days of creation. The artwork is intended to capture the
imagination of young readers and foster a deep appreciation for the story of how this world began. The creation story
forms the bedrock of our faith. In Genesis we are invited to explore God’s awe-inspiring acts of creation. Each page
reveals God's magnificent design.
Begin with Day One, where God's command dispels the void with light, defining day and night bringing light into
darkness. On Day Two, the skies are sculpted and the waters below whisper of depths yet to be explored. Day Three
introduces land adorned with plants and trees, each according to its kind. The journey continues through Days Four and
Five, where the heavens declare the glory of God with stars and planets and the seas and skies burst into life.
On Day Six, the pinnacle of God's creation culminates with the most intricate of designs: life in its most complex forms,
with the creation of Adam and Eve. They are given dominion over the earth and given the task of stewardship of
creation. Day Seven closes the creation story not with further acts of creation, but with a hallowed moment of rest,
inviting reflection on the beauty and harmony of all that has been created.
Each day's account is an invitation to marvel at the wonders of the world, encouraging young readers and their guides
through this journey—parents, educators, and caretakers—to ponder the awesome power of the Creator, God Himself.
"In the Beginning, God" is really three books in one. It is a children’s storybook account of creation, a visual song
accompaniment with song lyrics in the lower left corner, and scripture from Genesis for the creation account, and for
each subsequent page. After the 7 days of creation are explained, this book turns the corner to the gospel and how
anyone can have a personal relationship to God who made this whole world.
I pray you are inspired by these pages that point you to the Creator of all things, who is God Himself, the King of the
Universe!
Sincerely,
Craig Marvin Johnson

Moving beyond personal preference to authentic church growth
Everyone has preferences.
That statement is obvious, but it is important.
We have preferences about food, clothing, music, schedules, furniture, temperature, lighting, automobiles, neighborhoods, sports teams, and vacation destinations.
We prefer certain colors.
We favor particular styles.
We enjoy some experiences more than others.
We are drawn toward what feels familiar, meaningful, comfortable, or beautiful to us.
The same is true in church.
Why worship isn't a spectator act
Worship is a full-body, full-heart, full-out connection with God and each other.
A Journey of Knowing Christ, Living His Word, and Making Disciples
Before You Turn the Page...
This book is more than something to read.
It is an invitation.
An invitation to know God's Word.
To walk more closely with Jesus.
To grow in spiritual maturity.
To become a faithful disciple.
And to help others discover the freedom that is found only in Him.
So before you begin…
Pray.
Open your Bible.
Invite the Holy Spirit to teach you.
Then turn the page...
The journey begins now.
