Decode Innovation Series
by Anthony Siljeg
Decode Innovation — Inventor’s Notebook (Volume 2) is a practical, reflective notebook designed to help innovators, educators, and teams explore ideas, clarify their thinking, and build creative momentum over time.
This volume is part of the Decode Innovation series, which began in 2022 and builds on Anthony Siljeg’s earlier work on creative thinking and problem-solving. While Volume 1: Decode Innovation and Think Outside the Box focuses on understanding innovation from multiple perspectives, Volume 2 moves the work into practice.
Rather than offering prescriptive frameworks or step-by-step formulas, this notebook uses carefully structured questions to encourage reflection, experimentation, and learning. It is designed for repetition, supporting innovation as a habit rather than a one-time activity.
What This Notebook Contains
Part I — Exploring Different Dimensions of Innovation
Introduces foundational questions around creativity, habits, imagination, design thinking, and critical thinking. These questions help readers examine how innovation emerges, how it is influenced by culture and mindset, and how different ways of thinking interact.
Part II — Methodologies & Techniques
Focuses on applied approaches, including design thinking in practice, navigating uncertainty, and using structured methods to explore and test ideas. This section connects reflection with action, without forcing outcomes.
Part III — From Insight to Action
Shifts attention toward learning, adaptability, and execution. Questions in this section support translating insight into meaningful progress while remaining open to iteration.
Ideation and refinement sections include dedicated sections that guide readers through:
Developing a specific idea
Refining and refocusing concepts

Moving toward action and execution
Q&A / Example Answers Section
The answers provided are not intended to replace a reader’s first response. Instead, they serve as secondary perspectives designed to prime thinking, reinforce retention, and encourage multiple approaches to each question.
