La edición conmemorativa de El Último Don Español fue presentada en un escenario que, por sí solo, representa la elegancia y la memoria viva de Puerto Rico: el Hotel Condado Vanderbilt.
Construido en 1919 por el renombrado arquitecto Warren & Wetmore —los mismos visionarios detrás del Grand Central Terminal de Nueva York—, el Vanderbilt se convirtió en símbolo del refinamiento caribeño y de la llegada de una nueva era para la Isla. Su arquitectura neoclásica y sus salones dorados acogieron a aristócratas, políticos y grandes personalidades que definieron el rumbo cultural del siglo XX.
En este marco histórico, la presentación del libro rindió homenaje a Don Manuel González Martínez, figura que encarnó los valores de virtud, labor y fidelidad en el honor, pilares que también definen la tradición de hospitalidad del Vanderbilt.
La velada —titulada “Una Noche con El Último Don Español: Entre la Hacienda y la Leyenda”— unió literatura, historia y elegancia. Con guitarra española en vivo, cava y tapas, y la lectura del autor Andrés Guerra-Mondragón González, el evento celebró no solo la memoria de un hombre, sino también el poder de un legado.
El Hotel Condado Vanderbilt, testigo de más de un siglo de encuentros diplomáticos, recepciones de estado y momentos de trascendencia, se reafirmó así como el custodio de la hospitalidad como arte y patrimonio.
