The Calling

by Jeff W Welsh

A young woman in New England discovers she has been chosen to defend humanity’s right to free will in a confrontation that began with the fall of the angels.

About The Book

There is an ancient text – written at the time of the angels’ fall from Heaven – that tells of a human destined to stand against the entities that question the relationship between God and man. At stake is the gift of free will.

The Calling follows young Bridget Barrett from the strange circumstances of her birth through her unwilling realization that she has been called to represent the human race in a confrontation with humankind’s oldest adversary. Bridget is led through her dark preparation by a Roman Catholic priest who is tormented by the events of his past and torn by the assistance he must offer; a Harvard professor of comparative religion whose faith and training are challenged by a mysterious card in an antique Bible; and an ancient warrior of spirit whose very existence is contrary to Bridget’s deepest beliefs, but essential if she is to be successful in the final confrontation.

From the foreboding first encounter in a sleepy New England town to the shattering climax on a stormy hillside in Salem, The Calling is the story of an ordinary person faced with an extraordinary test.
