The Storm Rescue

A Dog and Her Boys

by Don Sanderson

About The Book

A storm is coming—and this time, they can’t wait.
Life feels different for Jack. With Dad deployed overseas, the quiet moments at home feel heavier than they used to. Responsibilities seem bigger, and the questions in Jack’s heart feel harder to answer. He wants to be brave, but sometimes bravery feels like something meant for someone older.
Then the storm arrives.
When dark clouds gather and wind begins to pound against the house, the night quickly turns dangerous. As thunder rolls across the sky and rain lashes the countryside, Mabel—the loyal dog who never ignores trouble—senses something outside.
A sound.
A cry.
Something in danger.
Jack realizes that waiting for help may not be an option.
Joined by his younger brothers Otie and little Coen, and guided by the courage that often appears when it is needed most, the boys step out into the storm. Flashlights in hand and Mabel leading the way, they venture into the dark woods behind their home toward a small, forgotten cabin where something—or someone—needs help.
But storms test more than strength.
They test courage.
They test judgment.
And sometimes they reveal the quiet leadership growing inside a young heart.
As wind howls and time runs out, Jack must decide whether to stay safe—or step forward and lead.
What the boys discover will challenge their bravery, deepen their bond as brothers, and remind them that courage is not the absence of fear, but the choice to do what is right when fear is loudest.
The Storm Rescue is the third book in the beloved A Dog and Her Boys adventure series—a collection of heartwarming stories filled with courage, family, loyalty, and the kind of quiet wisdom that often comes through unexpected adventures.
Perfect for readers who enjoy:
