A Lenten Devotional Guide

My own story begins in Ghana, where faith was not polished or performative, but deeply woven into daily life. I was formed in a context where trust in God was learned early—not because answers were plentiful, but because dependence on God was necessary. That humble upbringing taught me that God’s presence is often discovered in perseverance, patience, and prayer rather than in certainty or control. That formation deepened as I ministered in rural Iowa, where faith was lived steadily and faithfully, often without recognition. In those communities, I witnessed discipleship shaped by consistency, resilience, and quiet service. Later, in suburban Westmont in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, I encountered congregations navigating change, loss, and hope—learning again what it means to listen for God’s voice amid uncertainty. Now, serving in the city of Scranton, I walk alongside people whose lives reflect complexity, resilience, and deep longing for meaning, justice, and renewal.
