The Zone is written for those people who would like to start their own business but have no idea about how to come up with a unique product or service and even if they can, what to do with it next and how to compete against the giants. The story starts out in 1927 where my grandfather, Isidore Hellman, who was a bootleg dentist who used morphine and set of pliers as his primary tools. He gets morphine illegally from a supply clerk at a hospital and then treats people who can’t afford a real dentist. He is from Romania and has to help out his uncle in a small town in Romania called Guru-humorulei. There he starts treating patients again and he meets the love of his life, Gustava Roll.
Gusta is a first hand witness to the slaughter of a Jewish family and demands that Isidore take her and he two sons back to America with him to start a new life that night. Isidore overdoses himself on his own morphine and dies. Gusta and her two sons are left to survive the hard life of depression era New York City.

My father, Jacob (Jack) Hellman wants to go to college so he joins the air force and nearly gets killed as a tail gunner in a B-26 over the skies of Korea.
The story goes on with Jack and his love Annette giving birth to me and my sister. Annette gets a stroke and is institutionalized for the next 30 years. My father remarries a woman who could be the wicked witch of the west. To survive I have to devise many ingenious methods of getting the things I want and not being destroyed by this woman.

In doing so, I find myself creating and devising new things that others don’t see or miss. This is what I call the Zone. The Zone is that magical invisible space that creativity and originality thrive to give life to new products, services or ideas. I have been gifted with the ability to see the Zone and capitalize on these visions to create many products and companies through my career without the need to ever have a boss or a job. In The Zone, I endeavor to teach you to see the Zone, be fearless in the pursuit of your dreams of being self-employed and I give you a road map to get there.
