In this, the fourth book of the series, we discuss diabetes. The book informs that the incidence of diabetes is on the rise with one in every three Americans predicted to have the disease by 2050. This means that there is a definite need immediate and effective solutions. The current approach to treatments all target disease management instead of looking for ways to prevent or even cure the disease. The author presents a reasoned approach for changing the current approach so that better solutions can be found.
Diabetes is a complicated condition and can cause multiple organ failures resulting in death if it is not appropriately managed. The inability to produce or use insulin causes this disease which results in unregulated sugar levels. The book describes a new approach to diabetes management, which is holistic and emphasizes life style changes.

In this, the third book of the series we discuss cardiovascular disease. We have observed two outstanding properties of the heart in that it is composed of tissue which does not get fatigued, and it is not under the control of our will. We have discussed the miseducation perpetuated around cholesterol and note that in the process of trying to keep the channels patent, the focus on cholesterol may be misdirected. The role and safety of statins have been questioned and evidence of their toxicity exposed. The differences in the composition of the clots found in arteries and veins present a logical argument to explain why the mechanism for their occurrence is different.

In this, the second book of the series we discuss Alzheimer's disease. We discuss the known risk factors for this disease as well as outlining several to protect ourselves from it. The greater incidence of Alzheimer's disease among women when compared to men of the same age have been highlighted. The benefits of oestrogen replacement therapy in fighting off Alzheimer's disease have been addressed. A stark warning of the value of oestrogen-only replacements and not the combined oestrogen/progesterone replacements in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease has been advanced based on the evidence. Our environment as well as infectious agents play a significant role in the development of Alzheimer's disease. The evidence points to an uneasy relationship between HSV type 1 (the virus which causes cold sore) and Alzheimer's disease. Moulds have also been implicated.
