The early 1950s were both the heyday and the death knell for horror comics in America. They
stretched the limits of good taste, and worried many a parent – so much so that by the mid-1950s the
Comic Book Code was created to safeguard the delicate sensibilities of the populace. Titles like
ADVENTURES INTO DARKNESS were soon canceled .
ADVENTURES INTO DARKNESS hosted a wide and varied array of some of the best artists of the era
including: Alex Toth, Murphy Anderson, Mike Sekowsky, Nick Cardy, George Roussos, Jerry
Grandenetti, George Tuska and many others. Although there are not many writing credits available
the stories themselves were terrifying and challenging . We Dare You To Take These....ADVENTURES

This book was compiled with the best images currently available. That stated, these comics are over
seventy years old. The best efforts have been made to make the pages as enjoyable as possible but
not every panel is perfect and some allowances for the age of the books need to be considered when
judging the overall contents.
