JOE PALOOKA-THE COLUMBIA YEARS GIANT-SIZE VOLUME ONE STANDARD COLOR EDITION

COLLECTING HIS TALES FROM BIG SHOT COMICS #1-72, COLUMBIA COMICS #1 AND JOE PALOOKA #2-4 RETRO COMIC REPRINTS #818

Joe Palooka initially was a comic strip created by Ham Fisher. The strip first debuted on April 12,
1930. Joe Palooka was a boxer, but more importantly he was a good person who always tried to
do the right thing and treat others with respect. Joe Palooka ultimately was syndicated in more
than 900 newspapers and daily readership was estimated at 50 million.
It was only a matter of time until he was incorporated into comic books. Palooka was first
published by Columbia Publications in BIG SHOT COMICS and four issues of JOE PALOOKA COMICS.
In 1945 Joe Palooka moved from Columbia to Harvey Comics where his series ran for eighty-seven
issues.
Joe Palooka had his own radio show, a television series that lasted twenty-six episodes and ten
movies. Now you can experience the excitement and entertainment of Joe Palooka for yourself.
I am looking for scans of Columbia's JOE PALOOKA #1. Fabulous prizes will be provided for the
person who will share the scans with me.
This book was compiled with the best images currently available. That stated, these comics are
over seventy years old. The best efforts have been made to make the pages as enjoyable as
possible but not every panel is perfect and some allowances for the age of the books need to be
considered when judging the overall contents. The stories here were created in a less enlightened
time and there are some images that may offend modern readers.
