Deep in the recesses of the Ozark Mountains is the little town of Possum Holler. The citizens may be poor,
uneducated and downright odd looking, but they do have an amazing baseball team, the Polecats. The
pitcher and lead batter is the powerful and curvaceous Babe Boone. With the help of her Mammy’s secret
lightning juice Babe has super strength and speed. Babe would be the queen of the sports world if her
family and the other folk in Possum Holler would just let her.
Babe sprang forth from the brilliant (and a tad bent) mind of Boody Rogers, who also created the
marvelously funny SPARKY WATTS series. BABE began publication in June of 1948 by Prize Publications and
lasted for seven issues before having a title change to BABE, DARLING OF THE HILLS for four issues. BABE BY
BOODY ROGERS is perfect for fans of Li'l Abner, Sparky Watts, sports and the Beverly Hillbillies.
This book was compiled with the best images currently available. That stated, these comics are over seventy
years old. The best efforts have been made to make the pages as enjoyable as possible but not every panel
is perfect and some allowances for the age of the books need to be considered when judging the overall
contents. The stories here were created in a less enlightened time and there are some images that may
offend modern readers.
