CAR 54 WHERE ARE YOU? debuted on the NBC television network on September 17, 1961. It
stared Fred Gwynne as Officer Francis Muldoon and Joe E. Ross as Officer Gunther Toody, two
bumbling New York cops from the 52nd precinct. The show lasted for two seasons and produced
sixty episodes. CAR 54 WHERE ARE YOU? was nominated twice for best writing for a comedy
series.
As with many popular shows in the late fifties and sixties, Dell Comics licensed the rights to
publish a comic book based on CAR 54 WHERE ARE YOU?. CAR 54 WHERE ARE YOU? the comic,
first appeared in FOUR COLOR COMICS #1257 and then went on to be featured in six issues of its
own title. The artwork was done by the underappreciated Tony Tallarico. Join Officers Gunther
Toody and Francis Muldoon as they fight crime and drive their captain up the wall.
This book was compiled with the best images currently available. That stated, these comics are
over sixty years old. The best efforts have been made to make the pages as enjoyable as possible
but not every panel is perfect and some allowances for the age of the books need to be
considered when judging the overall contents.
