District Attorney Bill Perkins, frustrated with his low conviction rate, blamed the lack of
evidence being provided by the police at crime scenes, there by making strong cases
weak and allowing criminals to walk free. As The Mouthpiece, however, Bill bypassed the
need for evidence and proceeded to smash crime on the streets. His vigilante activities
were more concerned with putting a stop to crime by any means he found necessary,
legal or not, having little to do with the requirements of a courtroom. In fact, he was
known to take the law into his own hands to the point of killing the crooks he opposed,
which he did on more than one occasion.
Scripted and illustrated by Fred Guardineer, the Mouthpiece delivers a strong punch to
the jaws of many a lawbreakers. Although he only made thirteen appearances the
Mouthpiece deserves his place in the pantheon of Quality Comics' heroes.
This book was compiled with the best images currently available. That stated, these
comics are over eighty years old. The best efforts have been made to make the pages as
enjoyable as possible but not every panel is perfect and some allowances for the age of
the books need to be considered when judging the overall contents.
