More than a Minister

Jesus the Businessman

by RJC Books

The term business also refers to the organized efforts and activities of individuals to produce and sell goods and services. Businesses most often form after the development of a business plan, which is a formal document detailing a business's goals and objectives and its strategies for achieving these goals and objectives.

Adam Smith was an 18th-century Scottish economist, philosopher, and author, and is considered the father of modern economics. Smith is most famous for his 1776 book, The Wealth of Nations. The growth of a business, according to Smith, is rooted in the increasing division of labor. This idea relates primarily to the specialization of the labor force, essentially the breaking down of large jobs into many tiny components. Under this regime, each worker becomes an expert in one isolated area of production, thus increasing his efficiency. Therefore, we believe that if you trade services or products for financial gain, you are in business. No one needs to grant you this legitimacy; it is a frame of mind you may adopt. We will refer to this business process as specialization and exchange.

Each and every one of us must eat and put a roof over our heads. We must care for our families, which means we must earn a living. When we earn money, two parties’ benefit- the one who earns money and the one who makes a purchase and, in turn, receives a service or product.

The Clergy Tax Playbook

No Margin. No Mission.

Most ministers answer a calling to serve, not to become tax experts. Yet every year, countless clergy pay more taxes than necessary, misunderstand the unique tax rules that apply to ministers, or unknowingly expose themselves and their churches to costly IRS compliance issues.

This book is not about finding loopholes or avoiding taxes. It is about positioning clergy inside the tax code, understanding the law, applying it wisely, and stewarding God's resources with integrity.

He is the senior partner of his tax resolution firm, Virtuoso Tax Services.
