Blood in the Dust
by Selena Reid Author
Abandoned on a highway in the blistering heat of the Australian Outback, Yip Jones knows her odds of survival are slim. But when she stumbles onto a gruesome crime scene, she discovers something far worse than heat or hunger—a predator that’s been hunting in the shadows, leaving a trail of blood in its wake. Who is killing people in the Outback? Why aren’t the police investigating? And what role do the strange newcomers in town have in the chaos? To uncover the truth, Yip must follow the trail to its deadly end—because in the Outback, the monsters are more than just legend.
This book is 233 pages long and written in British English. If you're from the USA, you'll have to redact all the extra letters and imagine the s's are z's.
It includes violence, coarse language, and trauma-driven storylines.
Written in close 3rd person, it follows the story of a trauma-informed heroine in a world of magic that finally lets her breathe. It's a monster investigation procedural + mythology + political intrigue. It's the story of someone who has taken the pain that the world inflicted upon her and turned it into a strength - and the people who saw her worth, not her bank statement.
What readers are saying
“"Australian fantasy book done right. So many enjoyable and believable characters! Yip is a real hero. Brave, smart, flawed, and likeable. Reading this book was like reading a movie as it's playing. I'm truly looking forward to the rest of the series!"”

““A werewolf with a man bun ... is simply the best line I have ever read in any book ever.””

Book Two of the Yip Jones Series
When Yip Jones and the International Paranormal Response team head to Tasmania to investigate a poaching ring, they expect a simple mission. What they find is far worse. Captured by a sadistic criminal mastermind, Yip and Catch are thrust into a deadly bloodsport in the heart of the wilderness. Now, the only way out is to survive. With no one coming to save them, Yip must rely on her wits, her grit, and her determination to escape—but with predators lurking in every shadow, survival won’t come easy.
This book is 290 pages long and is written in close 3rd person. It's also in British English - sorry if you're from the USA.
It includes violence, coarse language, and trauma-driven storylines.
It's a story with a trauma-driven heroine who finds herself in a world of magic that finally lets her heal. But that also means that there are elements of this book that may be triggering to some. SA, in particular - not romanticised, I assure you, and not dwelled on in any detail, but present to acknowledge how monstrous human beings can be.
It's built a troubled heroine who runs from romance for very valid reasons.
Having said that, it's a monster investigation procedural + mythology + political intrigue, with found family and a very gentle, slow-burn romance between a wounded empath and werewolf who pretends to be tougher than he is.
There are some nutty, but endearing characters in all my books to balance out the darkness and I really hope you'll enjoy it!
Blood in the Water
Book Three of The Yip Jones Adventures
The International Paranormal Response team is called to investigate a murder aboard the Neptune Base, a deep-sea research station like no other. What they discover is a sanctuary for paranormal marine life—and a killer determined to sabotage the base’s mission. Trapped three thousand meters below the ocean’s surface, Yip must uncover the truth before someone else dies. But in the claustrophobic depths, the line between predator and prey is razor-thin, and time is running out.
This book is 283 pages long, written in British English - watch out for all those extra 's's and 'u's!
It's tense, claustrophobic and atmospheric, and written for adults, not a YA audience.
It includes violence, coarse language, and trauma-driven storylines. It also includes a magical world in which their office can be found in every major city. Not just a branch of it - the actual office. Home can be accessed off the seventh floor - no matter where in the world they live.
The world-building is vivid, the characters complex, and the danger intense.
Written in close 3rd, it follows a trauma-informed heroine in a world full of magic that finally lets her breathe, who has turned the pain the world gave her into strength. It's also a gentle, painfully slow-burn romance between a wounded empath and an anxious werewolf who keeps giving her space. If you like your romance wrapped by the last page, you'll throw this book at the wall in frustration. This heroine runs from romance for very valid reasons, so you need patience with her!
The plot wraps. The story continues.
