Shadows Over The Sand

Beneath A Persian Sun

by Edward Spiller

About The Book

The war for the soul of the Emirates has entered its fiercest phase.

The Iranian occupation of the UAE was meant to be swift and final. But the desert has not surrendered.

In Shadows Over the Sand, the explosive second book in the Beneath a Persian Sun trilogy, the resistance rises from the ruins. Former air force major Khalid Al-Farsi, British special forces veteran Jack Hawke, and firebrand civilian leader Noura Al-Rashid ignite a daring campaign of sabotage, rebellion, and hope against overwhelming odds. Their enemy is powerful, entrenched, and unrelenting, but not infallible.

As Iranian General Farhad Alavi tightens his grip, entire cities groan under the weight of curfews, surveillance, and collective punishment. Yet from the underground tunnels of Dubai to the firebombed ruins of Sharjah, a fractured nation fights back with ingenuity and grit.

Covert missions and devastating ambushes blaze across the Emirates. A symbolic strike destroys the Iranian command centre in Dubai. Prison breaks, sabotage, and ghost networks blossom beneath the sand. A child’s raised flag becomes a symbol of defiance. Meanwhile, exiled diplomat Hessa Al-Maktoum pushes foreign allies to choose between caution and conscience.

But resistance comes at a cost. Every act of defiance invites brutal retaliation. Trust is fraying, morale splinters, and the line between freedom fighter and terrorist blurs in the dust of war.

Shadows Over the Sand is a gritty, emotionally charged military-political thriller that blends high-octane action with haunting human stories. It explores not just how people fight, but why.

Perfect for fans of Mark Greaney, Tom Clancy, or The Kite Runner, this novel asks one searing question:
When the world forgets you, will you still rise?
