Jeanette Gower writes with a no-holds-barred, practical approach, reflecting on her own experiences. The author draws from her teaching skills to simplify often complex information. She challenges the reader to think seriously about goals, methods and responsibilities of horse breeding to make the best decisions possible and succeed in the industry.

“Jeanette Gower has created a concise and informative guide, using her 50 years' experience as a successful horse breeder to present a thought-provoking information source for newer breeders wanting to plan for the future. The book is not a "how-to" guide on horse breeding or handling, but rather presents an overview of all the topics and scenarios that a breeder should consider when setting up or expanding a horse stud with longevity in mind. It allows a new breeder the freedom to do things their own way, while encouraging them to think, plan, and make informed decisions on how to create their own successful breeding operation.”

Katherine Szalay Evans, Halado Park Lipizzaners

“I'd recommend this book to anyone looking to start in horse breeding. I believe it will become an invaluable tool to the newbies out there. However, I will also find the knowledge imparted in this book incredibly useful for my continuing journey as a horse breeder. I believe even experienced breeders will enjoy looking back over their breeding journey and seeing the similarities or even things they would've done differently with a little more knowledge and the beauty of hindsight.”
