Freedom, Sexuality, Humanity and Love

The Pleasure of Being the Body

by Manuel Pelágio

This book explores the body as the primary source of learning, perception and connection with life. Drawing on the work of Wilhelm Reich, Rolando Toro and Maurice Merleau-Ponty, it invites readers to recover their natural flexibility, sensitivity and capacity for pleasure. A liberated body becomes a path towards freedom, self-knowledge and a deeper harmony with our biological, human and cosmic nature.

About The Book

The body is the primary source of learning.
Without the body at the centre of learning, everything would be an illusion of the mind. The unreality that results from the cognitive perception of the mind would become a whole internal theatre. It is vital for human beings to introspect, calling into question the most presumptuous beings of the mind, who feed on the fear of living rather than love. In its onto-cosmic dimension, humanity needs body and pleasure to recover the dialogue with the human soul.

Life requires space and flexibility to accommodate the erotic breathing of the cosmos. This book demonstrates the importance of disembodying the body, Wilhelm Reich, and recovering flexibility and sensitivity through Biodanza, Rolando Toro System. The function of orgasm in the body, for Reich and Rolando, goes far beyond sexuality, being considered a fundamental element of Cosmicity and Universality. In Orgasm, Life does not happen; it is. In this sacred moment of human existence, there is neither beginning nor end of Life. Neither past nor future, only present and eternity.

A liberated body vibrates with life and is excited by its own naturalness. This book addresses all human beings who aspire to live in complete freedom and all adults who suffer, in their intimacy and sexuality, the sterility of the body as an entire way of orgasmic satisfaction for life, of harmony with their biological and cosmological nature. Merleau Ponty approaches the body as a work of art in movement, in which knowledge emerges as the fruit of perception, the sense of human motricity.

Pythagoras argued that "the real death is ignorance". Those who do not question themselves, and ignore what is around them, die early in life.
