A LitRPG Saga

The Greenwood Chronicles

by Tony Walker

Revenge is a dish best served with poison, steel, and a majestic golden eagle.

After being brutally stripped of his gear and dignity by the sadistic thief Loki, Barcud deletes his account in a fit of rage--only to realise he left a legendary Easter Egg behind. Reborn as an Elf Ranger, he returns to the hyper-realistic world of the Greenwood to hunt his tormentor.

Joined by an eccentric cast--including the narcissistic Runesmith Harald and the operatic battlefield terror Romeo el Mejor--Barcud must master the “mechanical necessity” of the forest to survive. From the Forest of Nightmares to the flaming floors of the Royal Palace, the hunt is on.

In the Greenwood, your stats are your life--and Barcud is playing for blood.

About The Book

Tony Walker writing as Galen Wolf

The Greenwood Chronicles is a massive, high-octane LitRPG adventure set in a hyper-realistic virtual world where your "stats" are your life, and your enemies are around every corner. It blends the strategic depth of a massive online game with a gripping story of revenge, magic, and the ultimate quest for power.

The saga follows Barcud, a player who starts as a "favour-build" loser—a multiclass disaster who gets brutally ambushed, poisoned, and stripped of his high-value gear by the sadistic thief Loki. After a fit of "rage-quit" fury where he deletes his character, Barcud realises he left behind a golden Easter Egg containing clues to legendary "über-loot".

Reborn as an Elf Ranger, Barcud isn't just playing for XP anymore; he’s playing for blood revenge. He must master the lethal "mechanical necessity" of the forest—using stealth, devastating poisons like Death Cap, and the legendary Mournblade dagger—to hunt down Loki and reclaim his honour.

This sprawling world features an unforgettable cast of characters:

Romeo el Mejor: The legendary leader of the Bards’ Guild. While he might appear gaudy, he is a battlefield terror who can perform the Aria of Death, a five-minute operatic masterpiece that instantly kills every enemy within earshot.

Harald Runestorm: A narcissistic, high-level Runesmith who lives in a limestone tower and crafts weapons like the soul-draining sword Dazzler. His story offers a darkly comedic look at a "bad man" with absolute power.

The Animal Allies: Barcud commands a lethal menagerie, including a loyal Wolf, a fierce Forlorn Tiger, and a majestic Golden Eagle named Aquila that he can ride into battle.

Loki: The Guildmaster of the Thieves and a specialist in "teaming" and torture, serving as the ultimate obstacle in Barcud’s journey.

The action spans the entire map of the Greenwood, from the tranquil Old Forest to the treacherous Forest of Nightmares. The journey culminates in a desperate, stealthy raid on the Royal Palace of Horrabia, where Barcud and his elite team of Rangers and Rogues must survive a gauntlet of "Seeker Demons" to face the Lich King Praxis in a room where the floor itself turns to elemental fire.
