Edge of My Heart
From ICU to Inspiration: A Dominican Son's Story
Edge of My Heart: From ICU to Inspiration — A Dominican Son’s Story is a deeply personal memoir by Anthony Sanchez, a father, educator, musician, and native of Bushwick, Brooklyn. When the world shut down in March 2020, Anthony’s body shut down too. Struck by Covid-19 and placed on a ventilator for three weeks, he was given a 20% chance of survival. What followed was not just a battle for breath, but a spiritual reckoning—a confrontation with his past, his faith, and the very soul of his identity.
Told through raw reflections, coma dreams, and the rhythm of resilience, Edge of My Heart invites readers into the life of a man who refused to be defined by fear or failure. It’s a story about music, memory, fatherhood, love, and the sacred responsibility of standing in the gap for others.
The title comes from a song Anthony wrote during his recovery—“Edge of My Heart”—released in 2022 on his album Love Yourself. The music told part of the story. This book tells the rest.
There’s no sugarcoating here—just truth, testimony, and a rhythm that never stopped beating.
