Management Plans for the Workplace Handbook
The actions taken in the initial minutes of any emergency are critical. Promptly warning employees to evacuate, shelter or lockdown can save lives. A call for help to public emergency services that provides full and accurate information will help the emergency dispatcher send the right responders and equipment. An employee trained to administer first aid or perform CPR can be lifesaving. Action by employees with knowledge of building or site building can help control procedures.
The first step in developing an emergency response plan is understanding the business or company's work policies, responsibilities, and procedures. This will include conducting a risk assessment to identify potential emergency scenarios that can accommodate the business or company's needs.
Understanding what can happen will enable you to determine resource requirements and develop plans and procedures to prepare your business or work site for emergencies. The emergency plan should be consistent with your performance objectives.
At the very least, every facility should develop and implement an emergency plan to protect employees, visitors, contractors, and anyone else who may contact the facility. This part of the emergency plan is called “protective actions for life safety” and includes building evacuation (“Employee fire drills”). sheltering from severe weather like Cyclones, “shelters-in-place” from an exterior airborne hazard such as a chemical release and lockdown. A lockdown is a protective action when faced with an act of known or unknown violence.
When an emergency occurs, the priority is always life safety. The second priority is stabilising the incident. Many actions can be taken to stabilize an incident and minimize potential damage.
First aid and CPR by trained employees can save lives. The use of fire extinguishers by trained employees can extinguish a small fire.
Containment of a small chemical spill and supervision of building utilities and systems can minimise damage to a building and help prevent environmental damage. You will read and learn more about “Disaster Management for the workplace " throughout the management plan. It is important to note that the underlying information is applicable to Queensland only

“I found this workplace handbook online, at first I thought.... do I need it, and " Is it relevant to my workplace? After thinking about a previous disaster during the floods some 12 years ago, and the fact that I did not have in place a plan for evacuation and workplace management, it was clear I needed something to guide my business. I went ahead and ordered the workplace handbook. On arrival via post, I found the quality excellent, but what surprised me more was the informative arrangement inside the handbook. From Fire to Floods, along with Storms and Cyclones. This handbook covered it all. I quickly placed an order for 4x copies, one for each of my departments. We put in place training days and toolbox meetings, which are now run monthly in regard to the handbook. All new staff must undertake the reading and sign off once completed, ensuring they are aware of the standards and protocols in place for the safety of all staff, contractors, and the company. I would highly recommend to any business, no matter the size, to put in place prevention and trust me! The first step should be to obtain copies of the "DISASTER MANAGEMENT PLAN handbook. Daryl Te'Nadii - times come and go, disaters just come!
Hello, my name is Daryl Te’Nadii or more commonly known as DAZ. I am the proud author of “The Orphaned Soldier” my personal autobiography. Today I spend many hours writing short stories.
As a new author to the world, I am proud to introduce my writings. “The Orphaned Soldier”, a true story of a child abandoned at birth and placed into the care of the church. His life under the banner of the church would face many hardships, years of sexual abuse and the unknown depths of pain no child should ever have to face. In his words, he writes, “tears run down my face as I knelt beside my bed, clasping my 6-year-old hands together, trembling in fear they wouldn’t come to get me”. The assaults would lead him to attempt suicide at the age of nine and again at the age of 14. Being reunited with his biological mother only led to more abuse and pain as he soon became a victim of abandonment for a second time at the age of 14-years. Living on the streets, he would survive through the will to live. Sleeping on the streets, eating from garbage bins, finding any clothing he could to stay warm, he would survive months of hurt and pain that would destroy the very souls of most people. His passion for life would see him join the armed forces, where he became a role model, teacher to many. His days over this time would see his character flow throughout the lands as he gifted his strengths and skills to many. Today, he shares his life as a man who has the right to live. Joined to his life are his wife and children, where love, trust, and loyalty bound the pride of his name. His Motto in life… I AM DAZ AND THIS IS WHAT I DO” This was my life, I am "The Orphaned Soldier". From this, I have written 12 more short stories, presented as a series of three.
