Making our Homes a Place of God's Presence
by Carl Van Vliet
In an era where moral relativism has infiltrated even Christian homes and biblical truth is increasingly viewed as outdated, parents face an unprecedented challenge: How do we raise children who will not merely survive in a compromised world, but transform it? "Parenting Holiness in a World of Compromise" provides both the theological foundation and practical roadmap for creating homes where God's presence dwells and prophetic destiny is cultivated.
A Timely Message for Desperate Times
Author Carl Van Vliet, a seasoned pastor with over three decades of ministry experience and father of six children (including biological and adopted children), addresses the crisis facing Christian families today. With 70% of young adults leaving the church by age 22 and only 5% of Christian families practicing regular family worship, the statistics reveal a generation losing its spiritual moorings. Van Vliet argues that the solution isn't better church programs—it's parents who understand that their homes are meant to be sanctuaries where holiness is pursued and God's presence is hosted.
This isn't another parenting book focused on behavior management or moral instruction. Van Vliet revolutionizes the concept of holiness, defining it not as legalistic rule-following, but as "the radical pursuit of God's presence through radical obedience to His word and radical separation from anything that impedes His presence in our lives and homes." Through this lens, parenting becomes discipleship, and the family home becomes a training ground for kingdom influence.
