When the tree feeds. The town prospers.
The Silent Offering by D Lovell
Children go missing in Haven Ridge.
All are Black or Brown.
All are never found.
Until Now.
And the town always has a reason—runaways, bad homes, troubled kids. But never a pattern. Never a cause.
Twenty-seven years after his sister Lila vanished without a trace, investigative journalist Jeffrey Dunham returns to his hometown when another child is found under brutal, unexplained circumstances. The official report says one thing. The scene says something else entirely.
As Jeffrey searches for answers, he finds himself entangled in a legacy the town has spent decades burying. With help from a local deputy who won’t stay quiet and a reclusive historian who’s been chasing the truth for years, he uncovers a trail of missing children, strange markings, and whispers of something older than the town itself.
The Silent Offering is a haunting supernatural horror novel about buried truths, systemic silence, and the children written off before they were ever found.
“A masterful blend of folk horror and social commentary that will haunt you long after the last page.”
“This book chilled me to the bone, and had me feeling several emotions, including sadness, anger, and frustration... This book is written by D. Lovell, and it’s the first of her books, which I have read, but it won’t be the last. I love her writing style, and the story grabs you by the balls, and doesn’t let go, haunting you, for a long time after reading. I read the last couple of chapters with tears streaming down my face, with my heart breaking for these innocent children, and their families. ”

“D Lovell does an amazing job in writing this folk horror novel, it had that element that I was expecting and was on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I cared about what was happening with the missing children and had that supernatural horror element that I was looking for.”
