Building Ministry on God's Eternal Design
by Dr. Gary H. Woolverton
Purposes of the Church By Design
What is the church truly meant to be and do? Beyond programs, personalities, and traditions lies a deeper calling—the biblical purposes God has given His people. Purposes of the Church By Design takes you on a thoughtful journey through the six essential purposes of the church—worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, evangelism, and prayer—and shows how they provide a blueprint for intentional, balanced, and Christ-centered ministry.
Rather than leaving church life to drift from trend to trend, this book offers a practical design for aligning every aspect of ministry with the purposes revealed in Scripture. Each chapter unpacks a biblical foundation, explores how the purpose can be lived out in the local church, and provides insights for leaders seeking to cultivate a healthier and more effective congregation. With clarity and wisdom, the book helps churches avoid imbalance, ensuring that no single purpose is overemphasized while others are neglected.
Whether you are a pastor, ministry leader, or church member who longs to see the body of Christ flourish, this volume will equip you to rediscover God’s vision for the church. As part of the Ministry By Design series, it serves as both a theological anchor and a practical guide for creating ministries that last, grow, and bear eternal fruit. Grounded in Scripture and designed for real-world application, Purposes of the Church By Design will inspire you to lead with intentionality, serve with balance, and build a church that reflects the heart of God.
